What is a good attention grabber for the topic anti-abortion violence?

October 302009

Posted in abortion | 6 Comments »

We have a big research paper due and we have to have an attention grabber and mine sucks. The overall topic is harm that humans inflict but we have to narrow that topic into a smaller topic. My topic is Anti-abortion violence, which is people against abortion that bomb up abortion clinics and kill abortion doctors. Any ideas will help. Thanks.

You could point out that any violence against abortionists has been from individuals, rather then members of mainstream pro-life groups. Except in the case of Paul Hill & Jim Kaap, each person who has used violence against abortionists has been a fringe hanger-on.

Abortion Arguments, Kind of Stuck?

October 302009

Alright, so I’m going to have an abortion debate (already started a few days ago, and finishing later this week) but I’m a bit stuck. Our team is Pro-Choice, but against abortion. We were embarrassingly frozen when the opposing team asked us if we seriously thought that "a fetus doesn’t have a life at the point where there is a beating heart and brain waves".

So we were made a fool out of because we couldn’t appropriately give an intellectual rebuttal after that statement. I have been browsing the internet for hours, but there just isn’t a thing that could be in our favor in a response to that question. I know that it is frowned upon to help someone with a school-related project on Yahoo Answers, but I’d very much appreciate it if someone would at least point me in the right direction.
Listen, I’m against abortion. I truly am. However, our debate topics and our positions were chosen for us, so we have no choice but to debate on the side we were given. All I’m asking is to be pointed in the right direction during a situation where the above question is raised by the opposing team, by which I have no answer to.

Argument against the heart beat.

Well, yes the heart is vital to a living being because it pumps blood through out the body. But without the lungs to oxygenate (not sure if that’s the right word) the blood the heart is useless. The lungs don’t fully develop until the very last weeks of pregnancy. Also, with out the liver to filter the blood the heart is useless. Furthermore, A fetus can have a healthily heart but without a complete developed brain the body is little more then a shell. Brain waves does not mean the brain is complete and functioning as it should. It takes 38 to 40 weeks to create a viable living creature with all of its working parts. Not 18 days. If it only took 18 days there would be a lot of children out there and a lot more happier parents.

Hope that helps.

What would be better: Abortion or Your taxes?

October 302009

Would you like the abortion of a fetus which is NOT a living thing, or that thing becoming a living thing, due to the fact abortion was made illegal by republicans and the baby going on welfare sucking up YOUR taxes!

What would you like more: Your taxes or the abortion of a NON-living thing?

Also for those people who say the fetus is a living thing due to a heartbeat…
Jellyfish have no heart and they are living things…care to explain that?
Coral have no hearts
Plants have no hearts

Please explain republicans on those example?

How about all those waste of human lives on death row "sucking up OUR taxes"? Can we abort them a little quicker please!

same people against abortion cant have mass for dead baby?

October 302009

my nephew Davide died at 8 months from strangulation in the womb by the cord, yet the church wont let us have a mass for him in the church. why is it that the priests are against abortion because the baby is a life…but they don’t consider it a life when its full term?

I am sorry for your loss. But the Church’s views regarding the death of an unborn child can have a funeral in a Catholic Church, so long as the parents wanted to give it a baptism.
If your particular parish has denied it, go to your diocese and talk to the bishop who has the authority to contact your parish. But don’t make the mistake of saying "The Church won’t let us," because that is untrue.

in CANADA what are the abortion laws such as how late can it be done?

October 302009

how late can it be done, and at how many weeks does the fetus have the ability to think or feel?

In Canada, there are absolutely no legal restrictions on abortions, so technically you could get one at 37 weeks.

However, there isn’t a doctor in the country who would perform an abortion that late, since at that point the fetus can feel. Most doctors offer abortions until the end of the first trimester, and sometimes into the beginning of the second trimester if there could be serious complications.

Obama or Mccain? What is the number 1 reason women choose abortion over adoption? Link with statistics please?

October 302009

Is it is because

A. Laziness
B. Selfishness
C. Irresponsibility
D. Sex-drive too high
A., B., C., or D.???

Which do you think?
The first person who responded to this gives the best answer…….it’s because of pure laziness!!

http://www.nrlc.org/news/2005/NRL10/NewStudy.html

from this study–

There were a number of responses women gave to the question as to what was "the most important reason" they had their abortions: they were "not ready for a(nother) child/timing is wrong," cited by 25%; they "can’t afford a baby now," cited by 23%; feelings that they had "completed my childbearing/have other people depending on me/children are grown," cited by 19%; and "having relationship problems/don’t want to be a single mother" was cited by 8%.

An additional 7% identified not feeling "mature enough to raise a(nother) child/feel too young," while 4% cited their view that the child "would interfere with education or career plans."

Notably, only 4% cited a "physical problem with my health" as the main factor in their abortions, while 3% identified "possible problems affecting the health of the fetus" as the most important reason behind their decisions.

When being lectured about abortion by pro-lifers, why are we always shown pictures of medical abortions?

October 302009

And not pictures of abortions that women choose for themselves, which occur during the first trimester?

Are they just not striking enough?

It’s a shock value tactic.

What do you think of Obama’s decision to lift the funding ban for abortion organizations?

October 282009

President Obama has lifted the ban on federal funding for those organizations which provide abortions or offer abortion counselling.

What do you think of his decision?

On the one hand, I disagree that the state should fund foreign organizations which perform abortions, but on the other it will now fund those organizations which offer advice, counselling and other related family planning services, thus educating more about women’s health and the abortion issue.

This is a popular question, and my answer remains the same.

Abortion IS still a legal option, and so long as it is a legal option people have the right to be told about it, referred for it and counceled for it. And these programs do have the right to federal funding. BTW, for people who dont know, Planned Parenthood is one of the orgs that was denied funding through that policy.

If people dont want their money going to support it, they need to ban together to get the Supreme Court to rehear the case. Ironically though, if abortion ever is banned, it will be based on medical evidence that is a DIRECT result of the abortions performed.

How will abortion issues affect the election?

October 282009

I know several women who are voting for Obama in part because McCain is pro-life and I know that the issue will hurt Obama in more conservative states. With two supreme court justices probably being nominated in the next four years, abortion laws are certainly in the balance again. Will abortion affect your vote?

Abortion won’t effect my vote at all. My reasoning being that no matter what the candidate opinions on the matter they have no power whatsoever to do anything about it. And there are much more important issues at hand right now, such as the war and economy for just 2 examples.
