She certainly will try. And many states have laws on the books that should Roe v. Wade be overturned, abortion would be criminalized.

Let’s look at what that would do…

I read an article on yahoo that when one country banned and criminalized abortion (in northern south america), women began dying in large amounts. largely in part, b/c doctors refused to do even routine procedures due to the fact that it *might* cause an abortion, to which they’d lose their license, their livelihood, and be sent to jail. the woman AND the fetus both died.

She wouldn't have the authority to repeal any laws. She could help control spending with her veto power.

She cannot. She can influence future decisions at the Supreme Court level by her appointments to vacancies, but those appointments have to be approved by Congress. If a president could just CHANGE abortion law, then it would have been done already. The budget is also something that must be approved and passed. This is always a factor in how much any President can actually follow through on what they SAY they will do. Having a Congress dominated by the opposition party is a huge factor.

The president submits the budget to congress for approval, they propose their own and then they haggle over it. Then Congress passes something and the president either signs it or vetoes it. Either side has the opportunity to stand their ground on any issue they think is worth fighting for.
