Why has the RNC been buying health insurance since 1991 that provides abortion services using your donations?

I guess Fox News just missed that story, huh?

As of Thursday, the RNC’s plan covers elective abortion – a procedure the party’s own platform calls “a fundamental assault on innocent human life.”
“The current policy has been in effect since 1991, and we are taking steps to address the issue,” Gitcho said.
According to several Cigna employees, the insurer offers its customers the opportunity to opt out of abortion coverage – and the RNC did not choose to opt out.
Like most hypocrites, they don’t practice what they preach. Plus, they needed the coverage for their teenage daughters.

This isnt the plan for all of America.

The entire abortion business is totally bogus. The GOP only got interested in the issue when they were courting the Jesus freaks in the pre-Reagan era. What the GOP really cares about is stooging for the trans-national corporations to the exclusion of everything else. Given that large numbers of Jesus freaks are ordinary working class people whose natural political home is a political party that puts the interests of the American wage-earner first…not a political party that puts working people last if at all, you wouldn’t think that these people would be so easily led astray. To peel Jesus freaks away from the democrats the GOP adopted a stand against abortion, gays, teenage sex and even birth control. This attention drew many fundamentalist churches toward the Republicans and a constant barrage of propaganda against the ‘liberals’ from right wing radio sealed the deal. Today many of the Jesus freaks that started out in the GOP as foot soldiers are now colonels and generals in the party. Between the right wing ‘Christian soldiers’ and the party’s deep involvement with big business no ‘moderate’ Republican stands a chance, so the GOP’s drift to the right continues, getting more and more surly and non-co-operative by the day. These are very strange people who operate more like a cult than a political party, but it’s a cult that’s well financed and well organized. Being anti-abortion is just a means to an end with these people….they’re dangerous and there’s no guarantee that they won’t win in the end. Give that a think!
