What is my % of having another miscarriage after a miscarriage/or abortion?

November 42009

I had a miscarriage in Sept and have been TTC ever since. What is the % that I will have another. Is it the same statistic for an abortion? I have a friend who has had 2 abortions and is now currentyl 14wks pregnant with plans on keeping it, what are her chances of this going full term. Please inculde your sources. Thankyou in advance to all!!.
WhOOOoooosshhh ~BABY DUST!!! to ALL~

There is an increased risk for a second miscarriage – I’m not 100% on the numbers but I think it is only like 20% ish. I’m sure a google search could give you an exact. If you are concerned about another loss, as soon as you confirm you are pregnant, call your OBGYN and schedule a vaginal ultrasound to check for a heart beat. They should be able to see you sooner than the standard 8 or 9 week first visit. Mine always did. Once you see that little heart beating your odd of miscarrying are significantly diminished.

Good luck to you!

Abortion done in the first trimester does not cause any damage if dont correctly. It does not hinder any future pregnancies. I know girls who have had 5 or six and continued to have a few babies. Your friend will be fine. As for miscarriages I have no experience with that and cant help you there but Im sure you will be fine. Lots of sticky baby dust to you!!
