It is a scientific fact that at the moment of conception, the fetus is a complete, individual, living, human being with 46 chromosomes, unique dna, and a genetic blueprint. The pro-life position is not a religious belief, it is based on scientific fact and reason. The only difference between an unborn child and a child outside of the womb is the size, level of development, environment, and degree of dependancy. None of these differences make one person more human than another.

Someone said earlier that pro-lifers hate women who have abortions. If there are people like that, they are not actually following pro-life values. Pro-life groups have many organizations committed to helping women recover who have gone through an abortion. Have you ever heard of feminists for life by the way? http://www.feministsforlife.org/

This issue is important in the american governmental process because there are many taxpayers who don't want there money to go towards supporting the killing of human life especially at such a vulnerable stage. That money should be going towards supporting women who are going through an unexpected pregnancy.

I challenge any pro-choice advocates to actually take a look at the other side of the issue. Check out the following link:

America 101 was so close to the right answer.

Abortion is not important, at all on the federal level

There were nine men who decided the issue, the Supreme Court of the United States. They ended the political debate that was happening in every state as they wrestled with the issue. It should be a states issue, as it is not expressly granted to the Federal government.

The basic point is that in a free society, you should have the choice to choose.

Social liberals support the right of the mother to choose to terminate her baby.

Social conservatives support the right of the baby to choose to not be terminated by it's mother.
References :
Well if you imagined a horror movie where people are thrown into a large sack and have to dodge a large augur drill bit being poked at them, you would know what it's like to be an unborn baby about to be terminated. Some people feel that just because someone is too stupid or lazy to use birth control the taxpayers shouldn't have to provide this service, so that the poor mother can be saved the anguish of having the child and then giving it up for adoption. If the mother's life is threatened abortion has always been legal. It's not like in the "Cider House Rules" movie where kids are living unwanted in orphanages today, there is a shortage of babies. Even back then the local welfare commissioners would ride around with prospective parents visiting poor families looking for a kid that fit their desires that he would simply put in the car and take with them, legally. Personally I think anyone who would kill their baby would probably make a lousy mother anyways, and pro-abortion groups don't tell the truth about how many women who do have this proceedure done have mental issues years afterwards, especially if they never have any other children. I've known several. It's also a matter of legal precedence, if they can terminate the unborn, then they can also justify letting someone die, due to health, disability or old age, it's called "eugenics". Where right to life people want everyone to be able to have the freedom of self determination.
References :
Convince me that a pre-born baby is not human, and I'll switch to prochoice.

How come anyone can hire a doctor to sever the limbs of a squirming 22-week-old "fetus", but taking a tack-hammer to an eagle egg will get you 10 years in the Federal pen?
References :
There are two sides to abortion, of course. Right-to-Life folks who hate
women who murder their babies; and Pro-Abortion folks who say they
have a right to do what they want with their own bodies. But, I think
the whole problem would go away if Abortion wasn't funded with us
taxpayer's money. If Pro-Abortion would only pay for their own dirty
deeds, Pro-Lifers wouldn't holler so loud. Let's get rid of the problem
by just removing the funding by taxpayers.
References :
Murder is a law that is written on a federal level. so is individual rights. the problem with abortion is, no one can figure out where to draw the line. Women have a right to choose what happens to thier bodies, but a fetus's heart beats at 8 weeks into the pregnancy, and people say that its considered murder to abort it after that. But the argument goes that since its not breathing and cannot survive outside the womb, then therefore its not living. When scientists prove once and for all that a fetus is alive at x amount of weeks, then the problem with abortion will be solved. Until there there will always be a ton of political grandstanding for and against abortion rights.
References :
Distraction. The GOP has had control of congress plenty of times in recent years and have not banned abortion. This is one of few issues used to evenly divide the public so you may then conquer.
References :
I find the constant abortion issue annoying, quite frankly. I wish the people could vote on it for once and for all and abide by the decision. I don't think politicians should be making those decisions for us. There is enough governmental control of all of our lives, we the people need to decide.
If a majority voted for or against it, I would be able to be at peace with the end result.
I'm sick of it and it takes away from some things that are more important that the politicians ought to be involved with instead of this.
References :
It shouldn't be, in my opinion.
References :
Libertarian woman sick of the abortion debate. I am pro-life who was led there not by the sword but by the pen. The single best way to stop abortion is through education, not legislation. If the pro-life crowd spent all their money on ad campaigns as opposed to political b.s. then planned parenthood would go out of business because people would become more informed of the scientific facts behind when life begins. If someone disagrees then they are going to do what they want no matter WHAT the law says.
