How can a government pass a law against abortion?
December 12009
I’m Canadian and my government wants to pass a law making abortion illegal. How can that be?!??!!? I am so shocked and insulted that such laws can even have the possibility to exist. What if a young couple makes a mistake, or that the condom was perfored and there was a leakeage of a body fluid. Accidents happen!! And what it means that the couple have to change their lifestyle, abondon their dreams to raise an unwanted child?? What do you think?
Oh and stupid answers will be reported. Thank you.
Abortion should never have become legal in the first place, a baby is a baby at the moment of conception, by the time you even know you are pregnant the baby can already feel things, by the time the average abortion is done the baby’s heart is beating, the facial features are forming even the nails are growing. I know in canada that abortion is legal until month 9 which I find outrageous. I think its long over due for all countries to make abortion illegal, I agree people do make mistakes but abortion isn’t birth control and should never be used a a form of it with is what 95% of abortions are used for. People need to be held responsible for their actions, If you think you are ready to have sex make sure you are ready to have a baby. The baby should never be tortured and killed because the parents want to still enjoy their lives. If they aren’t ready to take care of a child then put him or her up for adoption this way the baby gets to live and the parents can go on with their lives.

Man can always abandon woman. Woman can have baby and give it away or leave it on someone’s doorstep.
In Germany they have a slot where you can "post" your unwanted baby.

Ask the Vatican. They "massage" the law all the time.

There is no such bill in parliament. Parliament isn’t even sitting.
And no party is proposing this now, although some fringe MPs might be.
So what law are you talking about?

A Govt. can pass any law it wishes [ within the terms of the constitution ], your recourse is to lobby, petition, and hopefully vote them out at the next election, in favor of a party who will repeal the law in question. It’s called democracy !

Just say abortion is murder. It is the killing of an unborn human child.

pull out.that would help.if you dont think abortion is murder your wrong.watch an abortion once, especially a partial birth one.why should the baby pay for someone elses mistake?its a shame that it seems like the people who dont want babies usually have the ability to get pregnant and the ones who want babies have a hard time.

Some people (I am one of them) believe that fetuses are human and should be afforded the same rights as humans. It is also a popular belief that most women (with the exception of 1% of abortions performed on rape victims) have the choice to not do things that produce children if they aren’t emotionally, physically, or financially ready to care for offspring.
"Since abortion is impossible to justify on the merits (it kills a living human being, remember), "choice" has become the foundation of its political justification. Abortion advocates don’t want to talk about facts or science, but they love to talk about "choice". "This is America…We’re free to choose…You can’t legislate morality!" Nothing has so clouded and confused the politics of this debate more than the misconstrued application of this one little term. The bottom line is this. Choice is nothing apart from the context to which it is applied. Individual choices are either recognized or restricted based upon the circumstances at hand. That’s how our laws work. You simply cannot talk about choice in isolation.
For thirty years, however, abortion advocates have sought to bestow upon choice a nobility all its own, a nobility it has no claim to. They refuse to be called "pro-abortion", but they gladly accept the label "pro-choice" (despite the fact that there are countless other issues for which they are decidedly not pro-choice). The fact is, laws against rape, murder, assault, theft, speeding, drunk-driving and even smoking are all "anti-choice". They take away legal protection from one particular choice in order to protect a more foundational freedom. All such laws are "legislating morality". That’s the only way society can survive. Personal choices that infringe on the life or livelihood of another human being must be legislated against. Therefore, anyone who defends legal abortion by simply arguing that people must be free to make their own choices is either ignorant or dishonest.
Furthermore, in almost 99% of all U.S. abortions1, the woman having the abortion chose to have sexual intercourse in the first place. Therefore, it could just as easily be argued that these women already made their choice when they chose to engage in behavior that often leads to pregnancy. Ultimately, restricting a woman’s right to abortion does not restrict a woman’s right to not be pregnant. Abortion, after all, does not keep a woman from being pregnant. Abstinence does that. Abortion simply ends the pregnancy of an already pregnant woman by killing the embryo or fetus living within her.
In the end, we are only free to choose so long as that choice doesn’t kill or harm someone else, and our government exists to take away those choices that do. Nobody argues that a man should be free to choose when the context is sexual assault. What a fool he would be to try and justify rape by saying, "My body, my choice." Why? Because rape is a violent assault which involves more than just one body. And so is abortion. The heart of the issue is not "choice". The real question is humanity, and nothing short of anarchy can guarantee the perfect freedom of choice."

I honestly think its the right thing for the government to do. In canada abortion is legal until the end of the 9th month. That is totally unacceptable that baby could have survived outside the womb. As far as earlier on in the pregnancy I still think it is wrong and more people are starting to realize that it is a human being at the moment of conception and it can feel everything that is being done to it. People don’t have control over themselves when hormones are raging and sometimes they don’t use a condom and sometimes they do but there is always a chance that the condom will break, yes people make mistakes but the baby that comes from that mistake should not be punished, if they thought they were responsible enough to have sex then they should have to take responsibility for their actions and that includes going through with the pregnancy, not that they should have to be forced to keep and raise the baby but they should be allowed to kill it, after the baby is born they can put it up for adoption.
