President Obama has lifted the ban on federal funding for those organizations which provide abortions or offer abortion counselling.
What do you think of his decision?
On the one hand, I disagree that the state should fund foreign organizations which perform abortions, but on the other it will now fund those organizations which offer advice, counselling and other related family planning services, thus educating more about women’s health and the abortion issue.
This is a popular question, and my answer remains the same.
Abortion IS still a legal option, and so long as it is a legal option people have the right to be told about it, referred for it and counceled for it. And these programs do have the right to federal funding. BTW, for people who dont know, Planned Parenthood is one of the orgs that was denied funding through that policy.
If people dont want their money going to support it, they need to ban together to get the Supreme Court to rehear the case. Ironically though, if abortion ever is banned, it will be based on medical evidence that is a DIRECT result of the abortions performed.
I have no idea what the policies are when it comes to the extent of the pregnancy.

In the US, most states refuse abortions beyond 20 weeks, because after that they are deemed partial birth abortions. Very rarely will you ever find a doctor or clinic willing to do it after 16 weeks. Some say it is because that is around the time a gender can be determined making the fetus more of a "person".
I myself, couldn’t imagine waiting that long to make that decision. But I am speaking for myself not anyone else. Hope you find the answer you are looking for.
No, it does stuff like mentoring girls and young women. Some of their projects may involve women’s health education seminars but that’s about it.

Bush banned any funding from anyone who mentioned the words "abortion" or "condom". In other words, the only people to get funding were "abstinence only" groups.
Obama lifted the ban. Now family planning groups can talk about condom use and abortion without big brother gagging them or cutting their funding.

The public option is a government-funded, government-run health care option, similar to Medicare. Under the plan, people would pay premiums 10 percent to 20 percent less than private insurance.
That leaves the door open for Congress to come up with another option, such as a co-op or a “trigger,” in which a public option would kick in only if insurance companies fail to make reforms within a defined period.
Obama argued that a public plan wouldn’t create unfair competition for insurers because it would rely on premiums it collects rather than public funding, but would save money by avoiding overhead like administrative costs and executive salaries.
And he said his plan won’t add to the deficit because it includes a provision that requires the government to cut spending if health care savings the admnistration promises don’t materializes.
Obama also addressed seniors who have expressed concerns about the quality of care they have enjoyed being eroded by health care reform, which he said has been “subjected to demagoguery and distortion.”
“The only thing this plan would eliminate is the hundreds of billions of dollars in waste and fraud, as well as unwarranted subsidies in Medicare that go to insurance companies — subsidies that do everything to pad their profits and nothing to improve your care,” he said.
