Why does the government fund abortions?

November 132009

I think the one point everybody on the pro-choice and pro-life side on abortion should be able to agree upon is that the government should not be subsidizing the act of abortion (defined as the removal of a fetus from a pregnant woman’s body and the killing of that fetus). If we are going to have legal abortion, why not require women who choose to abort their babies to pay for it themselves instead of receiving a handout from everybody else? If women can’t afford the abortion, they can find a charity that will pay for it or just have their baby.

I don’t think anybody wants to increase the number of abortions (afterall, we don’t have enough babies being born as it is and abortion is definitely morally questionable), so why are we allowing the government to subsidize them?

What comes to mind when reading your question is if you feel ALL abortions should be illegal.

I would question the morality of one getting an abortion because they didn’t want a baby. There are plenty of options available for care of a baby through adoption.

You have to consider, however, that there are some who may seek an abortion for life or death medical purposes.

Just my thought!

Why do people feel carefree about getting abortions?

I have a solution.
Stop being a whore and spreading your legs than maybe you won’t have to worry about abortions.

I agree with your statement.

How many doctors perform abortions in the US?

November 72009

I am in seventh grade doing debate research on abortion and I would like to know how many people perform abortions in the US legally and illegally.
Thanks so much, that was all I needed. By the way, My group is pro-life so if you’re trying to convice me that abortion is cruel, I already knew that.

if you are in seventh grade, shouldn’t you be in school, not playing on yahoo answers, like how would we know the number of doctors that preform abortions??? shouldn’t you know where to look for those kind of statistics?? this is the pregnancy section, is it not. give me as many thumbs down as you like but you came to the wrong place. good luck with your "report"

Should paid adoptions be legalized to reduce the number of abortions?

There is an adoption shortage which has made it extremely difficult to adopt children. At the same time, numerous babies are being killed in abortions. Wouldn’t legalizing paid adoptions help with both the adoption shortage and abortion problem?

First off, babies don’t get killed in abortions. Fetus != Baby.

Second, funding for adoption makes sense, but I’d just rather provide funding for abortions, so there aren’t such large numbers of small people around to adopt. I’m kind of sick of kids.

Can a state prohibit abortions upon the fetus becoming Viable?

I understand that under Roe v. wade a state can not prohibit abortions during the first trimester, but have the power to place all types of restrictions during the second and third… but how does this relate to viability? a fetus becomes viable during the second trimester- do states have the power to prohibit as a whole abortions for the secon and third?
mutt: why? do u have a source?

As long as there is an exception to save the mother’s life, they can ban it in the third trimester.

*EDIT* – I listed a few Supreme Court cases below that deal with this issue.

When being lectured about abortion by pro-lifers, why are we always shown pictures of medical abortions?

October 302009

And not pictures of abortions that women choose for themselves, which occur during the first trimester?

Are they just not striking enough?

It’s a shock value tactic.

Why are so many Americans in favor of coathanger abortions rather than hospital ones?

October 282009

It seems as if there is an entire movement dedicated to getting abortions out of the hospital so they can be done with coathangers? Why do so many people want women to get coathanger abortions?

I don’t think we would all go back to coat hangers, there are those of us who know how to abort an early pregnancy using herbs. http://sisterzeus.com/List.htm A lot of women would go back to that and the use of menstrual extraction would rise again. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Menstrual_extraction#Outside_the_United_States I’m sure a lot of women would do what I would do and that’s move to Canada; I would refuse to live in a country where abortion was illegal.

If taxpayers start paying for abortions should men get more of a say?

October 262009

Or should we as a society get more of a say and try to curb abortions or something?

It looks like soon the tax will be used to abort babies. But do we really want to pay for other people’s abortions?

Even if they don’t pay we should have a 50 50 say as well.
