All this talk, talk, talk almost any women getting an abortion would give a child up for adoption to a good home.
I said good home not some religious zealot or social reformist fool.

Thank You for pointing out the obvious! I have said this for years! And don’t see why pro-lifers don’t get it. I will say in McCain’s defense that he has adopted children (can I assume Palin will be adding to her brood soon?).

I assume abortion is not a first choice for anyone and if you choose this you do not want a child. So….if you can’t get an abortion what happens to your baby? Either you are forced to keep it (probably with unhappy results for all) or you give it up for adoption. In this case hopefully you are a healthy white mom/dad…there are so many kids in the "care of the state", why do they not all have happy homes with all the ppl against abortion?

Since by your defensive attitude, i assume you will not be taking in her baby and she will spend her youth raising it! Oh yeah, and probably on welfare to boot! So while you have ruined this persons life you will also have the rest of us paying for it!

Just had this thought today. I work for a non-profit that helps needy people and it is really difficult to get funding and donations because there is a large portion of the population that feel needy people deserve what they get. (and thats putting it in general terms, but essentially, that is the attitude type I am referring to.) I just started wondering if those people are for or against abortion. How do those against abortion feel about undocumented immigrants, since their children are entitled to benefit from the public welfare system. And, if they are against it, how do they propose the children are cared for if they are born into families in need?
I am not trying to start an argument and not really sure how I feel about abortion, I am against it for myself, but don’t know how I feel about it for others.

Did you see the John Stossel special where he did a report on who is giving the most money to charity?? It is the conservatives and the people who go to church which include the working poor. This is very insightful and worth taking the time to read and view the entire story.

I am against abortion and also am a giver to charity. Just about everyone I know gives generously to charity and is also pro-life.

What can people do to take action against abortion?

Adopt a child, here in the USA, that someone has decided not to abort. Not a healthy white baby either, a minority baby who has severe health problems and will need a lifetime of care that will cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. What’s that you say, "Do as I say, not as I do?" I thought so!

Right now I am not registered democratic or republican. I lean towards being a democrat, but I am against abortion. Do you feel their are many democrats that are anti-abortion? Maybe a significant minority?

I certainly hope so. When Roe v. Wade legalized abortion in 1973, the Democrats were extremely powerful. Now the country is virtually a one party state [that is, Republican!].

The abortion issue has destroyed the Democrats. Half the nation will always vote against the D’s because of this one issue. Roe v. Wade has given the Republicans an extremely powerful weapon against the Democrats.

There is a strong trend for young Democrats to be anti-abortion which gives hope to the party. Bob Casey in Pennsylvania and Harry Reid in Nevada are two prime examples. I think it is the wave of the future.

I am sorry for your loss. But the Church’s views regarding the death of an unborn child can have a funeral in a Catholic Church, so long as the parents wanted to give it a baptism.
If your particular parish has denied it, go to your diocese and talk to the bishop who has the authority to contact your parish. But don’t make the mistake of saying "The Church won’t let us," because that is untrue.

i was surprsied there was a post and every anti abortion statement got several thumbs down, shouldn’t the religious section be against abortion? I know some of them are against birth control so i cant see how they could honestly be against abortion

They simply do not recognize that their posts are so extreme that it actually harms their cause!! Lots of people oppose them because they are extremists and could care less about abortion!!

It is all about their terrible attitudes and claims that have nothing to do with a reasoned and logical argument!!

It basically comes down to people choosing to oppose their extremism as being far worse than abortion ever could be!!

So the thumbs down are not about abortion but about the attitudes and behavior!!

Condoms prevent pregnancy and therefore eliminate the need for abortion. How can someone be against both these things while still being taken seriously be millions?

Catholics see sex as ONLY for procreation, therefore non-procreative sex is seen as wrong to them, which is why they are against contraceptives.

I’m assuming your Christian, so I guess you could just wear like, a cross or something, or a shirt with a picture of a baby.

My friend is super pro-life, and every Monday she wears this pro-life shirt with like a baby on it in a mother’s arms (supposed to be Jesus and Mary) and then on the back it says, life is precious.
Something like that.
