If sohow and in what states please nobody answer about how abortion is wrong because my friend was raped and is trying to cope with that and couldnt not posiblly handlea pregnancy with it so please t helpful advice

I am so sorry this happened to your friend, and that the U.S. has laws that make it even more difficult for a woman to exercise her freedom of choice. Hopefully, the Freedom of Choice Act will be signed into law next year, and these restrictions will be thing of the past.

You can travel to another state without parental notification laws and receive abortion services. There is an organization called Operation Overground made up of pro-choice advocates who help transport and accomodate women across state lines to receive abortion services. They are not widely publicized, but you can get in touch with them by contacting your local National Organization for Women chapter http://www.now.org or your local Unitarian Minister http://www.uua.org

Then, as far as funding, if the rape is reported, federal funding is available for abortion. If your friend chooses to not report the rape, then there are some limited funding services available for young and financially disadvantaged women:

I know that Obama said he wanted churches to have an option of whether gays can get married and abortion can happen but does it completely involve around the propositions?

If not does that mean it’s officially legal now that he won?

Abortion has been legal for years.

And no, gay marriage is not officially legal now that Obama is president elect (he is not officially president until January 20 when he is inaugurated). Just because a new president is elected, it doesn’t mean all of their views and opinions suddenly change the law of the land. There’s a process of making new laws and removing old laws, it takes time. Obama will most likely deal with GLBT issues near the end of his first term, because we currently have to deal with two wars and an economy. Biggest issues first, then the smaller issues. It takes time.

I don’t think that we should give everyone an abortion for reason of a woman’s vanity but in most extreme cases abortion should be legal.

For instance what if the woman is in a car accident and the baby would be born with a mental defect? Also, if the baby would be born a bastard (out of wedlock) abortion should be legal to preserve the dignity of the woman!

Usually children without married parents end up in prison or reform schools and besides a woman shouldn’t have to live with the shame and embarrassment of having a child without a husband.

Otherwise, I am pro-life but in these most extreme cases I would say bring on the abortion doctors. On the other hand though if the parents already had a child and didn’t want anymore I would say that the abortion would be wrong and for vain reasons.

You are probably going to pick someone that agrees with you but abortion is killing a human being. It doesn’t matter if the baby is born or not, it has a heart beat and it can feel. When having an abortion its not like the baby is put to sleep, it tortures the baby. There is a sonogram of a baby being aborted and its moving its arms and legs trying to fight it but it can’t.
And doctors are never sure if the baby will have brain damage and even then, who cares. They are still a human being. They are still that persons child who they just decided to kill.
If you think abortion is ok, would you want your mother to abort you. Even if she was in a reck you couldn’t of turned out fine.
And if the women is ashamed then she is a damn b****.
She can give it up for adoption.
Or and it is her fault anyway for having sex before marriage.
These are not extreme cases!

Rather than encouraging abortions shouldn’t education in the use of conventional birth control methods be encouraged. Isn’t use of the pill, condoms and other birth control devises better than people being subject to abortions?

If abortion is legal, meaning the government should not be allowed to control a persons body. Then shouldn’t people be allowed to sell their body and organs?

Abortion is the deliberate killing of the weakest and most defenseless among us. What motivates an abortionist? What must they think as they slash and tear a baby apart or plunge a knife into its neck? “A Woman’s Right To Choose”. It’s a free country, and I ask you, how could anyone possibly be against it? I am most definitely in favor of a woman’s right to choose. But there is a problem with it, which nobody seems to notice, and that problem is that when a woman learns that she is pregnant there is another person in existence. Doesn’t that person have the same right to choose? Are we going to say that just a certain privileged class of person has this right to choose to lice or die – and for other people? That doesn’t sound fair. That’s not freedom of choice – that’s tyranny. Certainly the other person is not old enough to vote in an election, but doesn’t that person have the same right to be protected by society as other children are protected? But wait, you say it isn’t really a person, it’s a fetus. A child is a child whether it’s inside or outside the mother, whether it’s one pound or ten pounds. Size doesn’t determine humanity. And just think about it – does it make any sense at all to say a baby inside its mother isn’t human, but the minute it pokes its head out it is? Today, abortion supporters say that it is better for babies to be aborted than to grow up in a home where they are unwanted. Who are they to decide if a life is meaningless? Do they think that they are God? Just because an unborn baby is unwanted today does not mean that he is destined to be unwanted for the rest of his life.
But if you still don’t agree, ask you family doctor some very specific questions: At what point is it possible to hear a baby’s heartbeat? When can you fist measure brainwaves? How soon does a baby start to look like a person? If that seems like to much trouble to ask the questions and go to the doctor, than I will say that 6 days after implantation in the uterus the person has developed so rapidly that his heart, brain, spinal column, and nervous system are almost complete; after 8 days the person’s heart has started to beat. Although still very small, this individual has taken control of the pregnancy to try to assure it’s survival – and the mother probably doesn’t even know she is pregnant yet.
A child is a human being irregardless of how small or how young, whether inside or outside the mother; and therefore has the right to choose to live. Since young children are unable to express their desire to live, at least until they learn to talk; it is reasonably certain that, like most of the population, they would prefer to live rather than be killed; and should be protected by law and adult population until they become a legal adult at 18.

This is just my oppinion so if you disagree please do tell me but dont bash me for having my own oppinion.

OK, I just re-read the 10th Amendment for the millionth time:

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.

OK, this is pretty straightforward. The Federal Government can only make laws if they have the power to make such laws delegated to them

So where in the Constitution does it delegate the law to make abortion legal (or not legal) to the Federal Government? I can’t find it. And if it isn’t in there, the issue should be a state issue, or brought to a vote.

So, which of the following is true?

1. It’s in the Constitution, but I just missed it (can you show me where it is?)

2. It is NOT in the Constitution, and the Federal Government overstepped it’s boundaries.

3. The Constitution is outdated, and we shouldn’t rely on it anyway (so can we get rid of free speech for NAMBLA??)

I say 2. What about you, and why?

Well, stiggo629 does bring up an interesting point and it is that very point that the original ruling is based on. Under the original case, woman had the right to act in such a way to preserve their life (meaning the right to live) and can make their decision how they see fit. The big problem with this is our rights in the law/constitution are only valid provided they don’t violate the rights of another person. Which is the shaky ground this ruling is based on.

Can anyone honestly state when a unborn child becomes human being? No and here is why. The main characteristics that separates us from the rest of the animal kingdom is self awareness (self consciousness as some call it). No scientist can state when this occurs. What they do say is it occurs at some point after conception (notice I didn’t say birth). And since we science can define when an unborn fetus becomes a "human being", then it should be banned. Ignorance of a matter is never an excuse to do something. If you think otherwise, tell an officer that you didn’t know the speed limit and see if you will get out of the ticket. Until people are ready to make a provision so that anyone (both mother and doctor) are held responcible for killing a child once science has clearly defined it (whether that is 8 weeks or 18 weeks), then it should be illegal. That is, if science were to define it as 12 weeks, everyone who agrees to (the mother) and performs (doctors) an abortion should then be brought up on 1st degree murder charges for that is what they have committed. Of course this sounds out there, but think about it for a minute.

In this matter I would have to say Number 2. The original case was made to allow for abortions to save the woman’s life. Medicine has advanced well beyond the need for such a procedure to save the life of the mother. Last year there was a premature delivery done because of medical complications endangering the life of the mother at 21 weeks. That infant survived and is now nearly a year old. It was done to save lives, then additional rulings have now changed it to nothing more than another form of birth control so that people don’t have to take responcibility for their own actions. Here is biology 101, sex will cause conception.
